The Man Behind The Moon, 2024
Director, Cinematographer, Co-Editor
A short Arts documentary exploring the life and work of early film pioneer Georges Méliès. I secured an exclusive interview with Pauline Méliès, his great-great granddaughter, and a second interview author Liz Hyder, whose work has been heavily influence by Méliès.
The film takes the viewer on journey to discover where it all went wrong for the innovative filmmaker, widely regarded as the father of modern film techniques. I selected clips from Méliès' films, which are edited to support the audio narrative, along with some stylised studio sequences, and enhanced with an evocative music soundtrack.
